Foung Ling is 49 years old lady and she used to be a teacher. When she was 25 years old, auditory hallucinations started and she has always talked to herself since then. Foung Ling couldn’t accept that she had been put on a mental illness and refused to take any medical treatment which eventually led to a serious deterioration of her condition.

Under the encouragement and company of her family, she has accepted her condition and is willing to take the treatment and medication to control it. However, Foung Ling thought she had recovered and stopped taking the medicine as she wanted to return back to work and live like a normal person. Unfortunately, her condition was relapsed and diagnosed with depressive disorder after went to the government hospital for checking. She now needs to rely on injections and medication for the long term to control the condition.

Foung Ling would like to go back to work but due to irregular seizures of her condition, she will talk to herself in the public or crowded areas. Hence, she couldn’t get a job outside.

Foung Ling has a brother with intellectual disability

Foung Ling who is 49 years old now is the third among the siblings, her elder brother, Chang Kar Saint who is an intellectual disability also move into our center. She has a sister who is married and an unmarried 48 years old younger brother.

The whole family is staying at Seri Kembangan, Selangor. 78 years old father passed away in 2019 and her 79 years old mother has been diagnosed with uterine cancer and is taken care of by the younger brother. As he needs to work, he is unable to take care of his eldest brother and Foung Ling. Therefore, he has decided to look for a disabled center that is free of charge to settle down them.

They were violence abused in the previous disabled center

Both Kar Saint and Foung Ling were about to start their new life at a disabled center located in Selangor. Unfortunately, there are violent children in that center and they hit the 2 siblings badly whereby they don’t dare to resist but could only endure it quietly. Their family couldn’t bear to see it happen again, hence they have decided to bring them home.

The siblings are stay at home until their family got to know we are taking in the unfortunate children for free and aware that our center environment made the siblings feel no fear. Hence, they have decided to send Kar Saint and Foung Ling here. Their family also felt relieved when the siblings is living well and when they express their love for the life here.

We refuse to take in violent children

We need to ensure the safety of every child and hence, we refuse to take in children with violent tendencies. We will bring Foung Ling to follow-up visits and ensure she takes medicine. After she stays in our center, her condition is improving, and not thinking wild as she used to.

Foung Ling will help to take care of other children and also do housework. There is something for her to do and learn in our center, a more stable lifestyle, and her mental state has also improved considerably. Their family was found of their improvement when during the visit and mentioned to us that she was only sitting and dazed in the previous center.

We hope the siblings can live and learn here and we will try our best to protect all our children in our center. We will ensure they are well fed with nutrition.
