Chow, an old grandfather had lost both of his legs during an accident when he was young. He could not walk and he has been relying on a wheelchair to move around. Chow has been sitting in his wheelchair for many years. He also has high blood pressure and diagnosed with Alzheimer. He is unable to take care of himself and required care from the caregivers.

Chow is an unmarried lonely old man, but he has a younger sister. His sister used to work and was financially capable to pay Chow’s accommodation fees (RM1500 per month) at an old folk home in Ipoh. As his sister is getting older and has no job, her family is also unable to afford the monthly fee and hence, they have applied for the sheltering service to us.

Chow is delirious and always thinking that his is still 40 years old

As Chow is the eldest member among the children, we called him our Grandpa. After he moved into our centre, his mood improved due to the kindness and passion of our children as well as the caregivers who will play with him.

Granpa often ask for his motor keys as he wanted to buy the children and workers some snacks and tea breaks. He thinks he is in his age of 40s and still capable to ride by himself. Although we will usually turn down his request, our caregivers will still tease him to bring us out for a ride. Chow brings a lot of laughter to us and he is living happily with us now.

Chow could not walk as his feet are crippled, our caregivers carry him on and off the bed, and wheelchair, and help him to shower and change diaper.
